Garmisch-Partenkirchen: Exploring The City Of Mountains

Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the Bavarian town just got me speechless. It is famous among local and tourist because of the highest peak to be found in Germany, Zugspitze. The city is also quite popular for the winter sports that it has to offer. There are so many things to do and see that I had the greatest time here with my buddy Mark from UJS Inc back in the states.  Our experience was life changing because of the amazing views, historic places to visit and the culture which is rich in first class experiences. Here are some of the things that you can do when you are in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Visit Zugspitze

This is one of the main attractions and I wasn’t going to miss out on this. It is possible to visit all the year round. However, if you visit during the winter months, you will notice skiers from various parts of the world flocking here. In summer time, it is just the place to go for a hike and reach the summit.

Indulge in some winter sports

The Olympics which had been held in 1936 had left a legacy in the city. Since then, it has become the top destination for winter sports. I visit the Ice Stadium to skate. This is the same stadium which had been used for the Olympics of 1936. If you not much adept at skating, you can take lessons that are offered here. There is also a curling rink and you can enjoy the outdoor rinks during the winter months.

Drop in at Partnachklamm

Only 3 kilometers from Garmisch-Partenkirchen will take you to the beautiful Partnachklamm, Partnach Gorge. The rocky gorge that is situated on River Partnach is great for exploring at any time of the year. The river is over 702 meters long and winter gives it some added beauty. I have to say that it was a visual treat for the eyes. There are many trails that will take you to the summit. This is an incredible way to explore the beauty of nature.
