Timmins: Making The Most Of The Winter Season

This winter, I planned to visit Timmins. The family-friendly activities that this city has to offer are worth exploring. I was able to create some unforgettable memories in Timmins. If you are in this city, you are never going to be disappointed and run out of options. Here are some of the best things to do in Timmins in winter.

  • Snowshoeing

You can go snowshoeing in the Porcupine Ski Runner Property. The marked trail system is ideal for people of all experience level. Starting from 1.1 km walks to 3.7 trails, you will find it all. Since I wasn’t carrying my own equipment, I rented them and availed the locker facilities offered by the Porcupine Ski Runner.

  • Snowmobiling

Did you know that Timmins is one of the top destinations for snowmobiling? The 440 km long trail with 300 cm of snowfall every year makes it the best spot.  The trails are well-marked and patrolled. This ensures the safety of the place. Take the designated trails to reach the hotels, restaurants, and gas stations.

  • Cross-country skiing

One of the best trails systems is under the Porcupine Ski Runner. They are the largest ones to be found in Canada. There are trainers to train in you in cross-country skiing. It has been a great experience for me.

  • Snowboarding and downhill skiing

Go west from Timmins and you will find a place for downhill skiers and snowboarders. This is the Kamiskotia Snow Resort. I found 25 unique runs in here including two surface lifts and two airlifts. In case you are not that much into skiing or want to do something else, you can check out the tube park. It is just too much fun. The chalet is perfect for spending a relaxing day. Enjoy a hot cup of chocolate while you spend some quiet time.
